Automatic driving lessons helping prepare you for the road!

All drivers must hold a current, valid driving licence (provisional or full), which must be produced on or in advance of their first lesson and be carried with them at all times whilst driving. It is also a requirement that you can read a car number plate at a distance of 20.5 metres (Or 67 feet), if you require glasses to read the number plate they must be worn at all times whilst driving.

Payments are required to be made in advance of lessons.

All lesson bookings will be recorded in the pupil record card supplied. Pupils are advised to be punctual for all booked lessons. Your instructor will wait up to 15 minutes from the start of a booked lesson after which the lesson will be abandoned and the booked lesson fee forfeited or become due for payment. The same waiting may become necessary if your instructor is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Any such lesson time would be made up at the end of the lesson or at a future date.

Provided that your instructor can easily replace your booked lesson no penalty will be incurred. If this is not possible the full training costs for the lesson in question may, at the discretion of your instructor be charged to you.  Your instructor reserves the right to postpone lessons if he or she decides that the weather or road conditions are unsuitable or dangerous. The instructor cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of the postponement of any lessons, for whatever reasons.

If you or your instructor needs to cancel a lesson, a minimum of 48 hours’ prior notice should be given. Please note that all cancellations must be communicated between the pupil and the Instructor or vice versa.  Failure to provide required notice of cancellation will result in the full lesson fee to become payable to the instructor.

In the interests of comfort and safety pupils are advised to have suitable footwear and clothing which does not restrict movement. Pupils should also inform their instructor if they have any special needs or are taking any medication that may affect their ability to drive safely.

Your instructor will discuss with you your readiness for a practical driving test, subject to a mock driving test. Following which you may book your test with the D V S A. Should you require the use of your instructor’s car for the test it is important that you notify your instructor the exact time date and location of your practical test, to ensure the vehicle will be available for the test.

On the day of your Driving Test you and your instructor will carry out the full list of vehicle safety checks covered in the “show me, tell me “element of the Practical Driving Test to ensure the vehicle is suitable for use on your Driving Test. Should a fault become evident after arrival at the Test Centre and there not be sufficient time to correct the fault before your Test start time, the examiner may decide the vehicle is not suitable for test purposes and terminate your test with the loss of your test fee. Your instructor will make all efforts to present a vehicle fit for test purposes but if through unforeseen circumstances your test is terminated, your instructor can not be held responsible for any costs incurred by you because of such an event.

Your instructor reserves the right to withdraw the use of their vehicle for test purposes if he or she decides that your driving would actually or potentially cause a danger to public safety.

The D V S A require 3 clear working days to postpone a booked Driving Test. Failure to provide the required notice may result in a loss of test fee. Should the D V S A postpone or cancel a booked driving test it is your responsibility to inform your instructor so possible alternative arrangements for car use can be arranged.
